Grant Keenan has been involved in a coaching since 1998 stretching 20 years of coaching experience. Grant starting coaching in Christchurch at his Christchurch club with the Christchurch Colts side. A career move to Auckland in 2002 allowed Grant to join the infamous Ponsonby Rugby Club where Grant was Head Coach of the Premier side from 2003 to 2006. Grant left NZ spending 4 years coaching professionally in Japans Top League with Toyota Shokki. On his return to NZ Grant was assistant coach of Auckland B in 2011 & 2012 before moving back to Christchurch to be assistant coach of the Mid Canterbury Heartland side in 2013 & 2014 and Head Coach in 2015. Grant was then appointed Head Coach of the New Zealand Heartland XV He was then appointed Skills & Backs Coach of the New Zealand Black Ferns for 2016 & 2017 seasons, winning the Women’s Rugby World Cup in Ireland in 2017. In 2023, USAR Eagles have engaged Grant as Technical Advisor.

The Crusaders International Rugby Academy (IHPU) is located in Christchurch - the heart of rugby in New Zealand. Based at Rugby Park, it is also the home to the BNZ Crusaders and the Canterbury Rugby Football Union (CRFU). The BNZ Crusaders are the most successful Super Rugby franchise in the 21 year history of the competition, winning their 9th title in 2018. They have been finalists 14 times and Semi Finalists in 17 of the past 18 years. The BNZ Crusaders are the only Super Rugby team to complete a whole season undefeated, a truly remarkable record. The Canterbury Rugby team has been the most dominant in the New Zealand domestic rugby competition in recent years, winning the National title (The Mitre 10 Cup) nine out of the last 10 years.
The IHPU was established in 2008 by the CRFU. Its purpose is to offer select players, coaches and support staff an opportunity to visit the inner workings of the organization in one of the world’s most beautiful and rugby fanatical countries. The IHPU offers a world-class high-performance coach and player development programs. The CRFA was founded in 2014 with the support of the Midwest Youth Rugby Development Foundation to promote and develop the game of Rugby Union. Its mission is to conduct a comprehensive program utilizing certified and highly trained professionals to teach the most advanced skills and techniques in their respective fields for high potential, high school rugby athletes in the Southwest Ohio area. The Academy seeks to create opportunities for individuals to grow not just as rugby players but also as human beings by inspiring them with the core values of rugby, which include commitment, team spirit, dedication, camaraderie and respect for others.
